A CENTRE FOR THE COMMUNITY

Wagar Adult Education Centre brings the community together. We Work with students from over 49 different countries, with all levels of education and life experience. The centre offers both full time and part time French and English courses. Our teachers also go out into the community to teach, making education more accessible for everyone.

Registration for the General Education courses offered at Wagar takes place several times a year and takes place at the school. Upon registration you will be tested and put into the appropriate level.


French Classes

We offer day & evening French Classes at the beginner and intermediate levels.

English Classes

We offer full time (day) and part time (evening) classes at all levels of the Common Core Basic Education Program.

Community Classes

If you prefer to attend an english class closer to your home, Wagar teaches english in community centres as part of our outside the centre Common Core Basic Education Program.

Special Needs Program

Wagar Adult Centre is home to approximately 250 part-time and full-time special needs adults who follow the MELS Social Integration Services Program.

You must bring your Permanent Resident Card, your passport and a valid (not expired) Quebec Medicare Card.



If you are a Canadian Citizen you must bring your Canadian Citizenship card and a valid Medicare Card.



Morning classes start at 8:40am and finish at 12:40pm.



When you come to register you will be tested by a teacher and placed in the appropriated level.



The morning classes are from Monday to Friday



We have classes in the evening from 6:30pm to 9:30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Yes, every student that registers at Wagar for English or French must buy the book corresponding to that particular level.



No, you have to pay the entire amount the day you register.



No, we only accept cash or debit (bank card).



Usually there is no problem, but you will have to speak to administration to get permission.



Yes you can, but your English level of speaking and writing must be at least at a pre-secondary level.



You will receive a mark from the Quebec Ministry of Education certifying your studies.



You will need to practice speaking English with other people outside of school, this will help your listening and speaking skills. This will depend on the time effort and practice you are able to give to your studies.



Wagar does not have academic courses, you have to call one of the other adult education centres.



Please try to advise your teacher of all absences.



Your child can register but she must be 16 years old before July 1st of the current year. And the parent must also sign for him/her.



Courses could be given depending on the number or requests.



Wagar has free parking, a bus direct to and from Villa Maria for evening students, field trips, guest speakers, holiday celebrations and more.
