*PLEASE NOTE: if you have a Quebec high school or professional diploma or high school credits,
you may not be permitted to register for the Basic English courses

Documents Required for All Courses
  • A valid Quebec Medicare card is required by all applicants – not expired.
  • Applicants who are not Canadian citizens must bring their foreign passport (valid or expired).

And one of the following:


Born outside Canada
  • Canadian Citizenship Card, or
  • Permanent Resident Card, or
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residency: (IMM5292 or IMM5688), and Medicare letter which indicates the Medicare Card #.
    Only for those people newly arrived to Canada who have not yet received the Permanent Residency Card and/or the Medicare Card.
  • Record of Landing (IMM 1000), or
  • Quebec Selection Certificate (Category R8, RA and Humanitarian ONLY) AND Federal Study Permit
  • For French Courses ONLY: A valid Work Permit (IMM1442) (NOT EXPIRED) Case Type: 07, 08, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 98

Quebec employer`s name must be stated on Work Permit or student must have a letter of employment from their Quebec employer.

Born in Canada, outside Quebec
  • Birth Certificate with parents’ names or Baptismal with parents’ names.

Born in Quebec
  • Quebec Birth Certificate (LONG FORMAT) issued by the Directeur de l’etat civil du Quebec

Non-Canadian
  • For Non-Canadian students, a passport from the country of origin is obligatory

Full-Time Students Part-Time Students
English Literacy – Pre-Secondary:
Monday to Friday: 8:40am to 12:40pm (20 hours/week
English Literacy – Pre-Secondary:
Monday to Wednesday: 5:30pm - 9:00 pm (10½ hours/week)
French Second Language – Daytime:
Beginner: Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (10 hours/week)
Intermediate: Monday to Friday 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (10 hours/week)
French Second Language – Evening:
Beginner: Monday to Wednesday 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (10 ½ hours /week)
Intermediate: Monday to Wednesday 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (10 ½ hours/week)

100.00 Basic English Literacy Courses (40.00 activity fee included)
85.00 French Second Language Courses (40.00 activity fee included)

All fees are payable in full at registration cash or interac only (NO CHEQUES OR CREDIT CARDS!)

NO REFUND of 40.00 activity fee.
REFUNDS for course materials are only provided within 2 weeks of registration original receipt required.

Wagar Adult Education Centre reserves the right to cancel a course or to modify the starting date(s).
